There are many myths about the causes of
Acne. Some people think that the incidence of Acne is higher if
you eat food like chocolate and chips. Others think its presence
is due to poor hygiene. Neither is true.
What is Acne?
Acne is caused by the bodies increased production of the hormone
androgen which stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce more
oil, thus causing the pores to become blocked so that the oil
can not come up to the surface of the skin.

How does the treatment work?
The Ellipse operator guides the light from the hand held
applicator to the treatment area. The light that is allowed
through is absorbed by the haemoglobin, which heats up in the
fine blood vessels that supply the sebaceous glands. This causes
a minor injury to the sebaceous glands and slows down the over
production of oil that leads to acne.
How long does the treatment take?
Including consultation and treatment you should count on twenty
minutes in the clinic. A typical course includes four treatments
spaces three weeks apart.
Can I be Treated?
If you have permanent acne you will benefit from a treatment.
The best result are achieved on inflammatory acne.
Do I need to take special precautions before or after
treatment?
The use of DifferinŽ is recommended in combination with the Acne
treatment. It works by reducing the inflammation caused by the
acne and should be applied once every evening and can be
continued after your acne treatment has been completed. You
should consult your GP for more information.
