How does the treatment work?
The operator guides the visible light from the flash lamp to the blood vessels needing treatment. Blood contains haemoglobin that absorbs the light and converts it in to heat. This heat destroys the protein in the wall of the vessel, and as a result it will gradually and safely disappear.
Which Thread Veins can be treated?
Thread veins in all parts of the body can be treated. The most common treatments are for superficial veins on the face and legs. As the treatment relies on absorption of light the most effective result are seen on light skin.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment time depend on the area to be covered and the number of distinct vessels to be treated. A typical treatment takes 10 to 15 minutes. These are spaced one month apart and an average of two to four treatments are required.
Does the treatment Hurt?
Tolerance of pain is very individual however no anaesthetic is required.
Do I need to take special precautions before or after treatment?
It is important to avoid tanning before and during the treatment period. An SPF 15 minimum is also required during the treatment period, and some clients benefit from cold compresses immediately after treatment.
